CAAPA STUDENT CAAPA SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

 

Coalition for African Americans in the Performing Arts offers annual scholarships to high school students who meet the following CAAPA SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION criteria.

Applicants must be of African American, Caribbean, or African descent. High School Juniors or Seniors in the Washington, DC and Baltimore metropolitan areas. Applicant must display a keen interest in the performing arts with a focus on classical music, through a juried audition process. Student must consider classical performing arts as a major.

Along with completed  CAAPASCHOLARSHIPAPPLICATION or CAAPASCHOLARSHIPAPPLICATION students must submit the following:

Vocalists:  two pieces, preferably in classical style, at least one in a foreign language.

 

Pianists/organists: three works (different period) selected from baroque, classical, romantic or modern periods.

Strings: one or more movements from a baroque work and one or more movements from a classical or romantic sonata or concerto.

 

Wind: two contrasting pieces, or two movements from a solo sonata or concerto.

 

ANNUAL DEADLINE:  March 1st

 

Final Applicants will be notified of selection no later than March 30th.
