The Coalition for African Americans in the Performing Arts (CAAPA) is proud to once again host the 2023 CAAPA Music Scholarship Program! For 10 years the organization has awarded scholarships to high school seniors and has now opened a Junior Division for high school juniors!
High School Division Awards
1st Place Award - $1000
2nd Place Award - $750
3rd Place Award - $500
Junior Division Award
Two (2) awardees would earn a scholarship to attend one of the following musical camps for their instrument/voice.
• George Mason Summer Band Camp (Jun 19-23)
• George Mason Summer Orchestra Camp (Jun 26-30)
• George Mason Summer Piano Camp (Aug 7-11)
• George Mason Summer Musical Theatre Camp (Jul 24-28)
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Every year CAAPA offers graduating high school music students an opportunity to perform in a Student Showcase. Having performed before an audience of peers, parents, guests, and music professionals, they are mentored, critiqued and judged on their performance of two selections, one classical and one of their choice.
All of the performing students are guaranteed a scholarship to attend a music program the following fall. A top winner is selected and receives the CAAPA Youth Music Award with another cash prize to use for music study. The student is also, as a part their package given a performance opportunity at one of CAAPA’s gala events before hundreds.
