We're currently seeking interested musicians to gauge community interest in reactivating our Jazz Ensemble program. Under the direction of Ronald "Trey" Walton, this group would welcome jazz enthusiasts of all experience levels to explore America's greatest musical art form together.

Setting the Standard for Jazz Excellence

The CAAPA Jazz Ensemble represents our commitment to celebrating the full spectrum of Black musical excellence, from classical traditions to the innovative spirit of jazz. While this program is not currently active, we're exploring the possibility of reactivating our jazz ensemble based on community interest and musician availability.

Under the potential leadership of Director Ronald "Trey" Walton, this ensemble would provide a welcoming space for instrumentalists of all ages and experience levels to explore jazz repertoire, develop improvisation skills, and connect with fellow musicians who share a passion for this uniquely American art form that has shaped music worldwide.

Program Director: Ronald "Trey" Walton

  • No, the Jazz Ensemble is not currently active. We're gauging community interest to determine if there's sufficient demand to reactivate this program with appropriate leadership and resources.

  • Traditional jazz instrumentation includes saxophone, trumpet, trombone, piano, bass, drums, and guitar. However, we welcome musicians playing any instrument interested in exploring jazz styles and arrangements.
